St Peter's Catholic Primary School

‘Unlocking love for lifelong learning for God, self and for others’

School Council

School Councillors for 2018/19 are:

Emilia and Oscar Learning Ladybirds
Darcy and  Perfect Pandas
Angelica and  Fantastic Fish
Adam J and Ruby Fabulous Flamingos
Amelia and Alfie Perservering Penguins
Isaac and Ella Powerful Pumas
Tawana and Holly Super Stars

Our School Council consists of two pupil representatives from each class who were voted in on the 24th September 2018.  We meet regularly with Miss Avey and Mrs England to discuss various topics throughout the year.  This year, after the previous school council took owenership over the school's road safety, the School Council are running WOW (Walk on Wednesday).

We also have a governor, Mrs Langley who also attends some of our meetings to ensure that the children’s voice is fed back to the governing body.

It is our job to listen to any suggestions, ideas or opinions from our school community.  These suggestions will be discussed in our meetings where we work together to address a way forward.  Everybody from the St Peter's community are welcome to make suggestions through a School Councillor who will start a discussion about these suggestions within our meetings.

The School Council of 2016/17 and 2017/18  addressed some suggestions from our school community and worked hard as a team to:

  • change the zone board, making way for our new house point counters.
  • create a suggestion box for people to anonymously put ideas.
  • create a school council newsletter.
  • taking ownership of the Golden Behaviour tree
  • starting a Road safety campaign- creating a special video.
