Monday 12th July
This week's challenges will be based on ‘Commotion in the Ocean’.
Phonics: Please keep practising your phonics every day and continue to work through the Phase 3 sounds at your own speed. Focus on the vowel digraphs:
ai, ee, igh, oa, oo, ar, or, ur, ow, oi, ear, air, ure, er
The Phonics Play website https://www.phonicsplay.co.uk/resources/phase/3 has excellent games that you can play with the children linked to the different sounds. The Phonics Play comics are also a useful resource to help with practising these Phase 3 digraphs.
Reading: It is important that you continue to read every day. If you have the book, reading it with your mum or dad. Sound out some of the words by yourself. Can you find some of the rhyming words from the story?
Writing: Can you think of your favourite creature in the ocean. What is it? Can you describe it? How does it move? Get mummy or daddy to take a photo of your writing and send it to me or put it on EExAT.
Maths: Look at the different pictures of the creatures. Can you say which would be the heaviest? Which would be the lightest? Look at the pictures of each creature, count how many there are of each and write the number down. Keep practising counting forwards to 20 and especially backwards from 20 to 0. Get mummies or daddies to email me a photo of you working or upload it to EExAT.
Understanding the World: Learn about the different creatures in the ocean. Or why not try one of the sea themed science investigations.
Art & Design: Design your sea creature. Can you make a very odd creature which lives deep in the ocean? Try to make your creature as colourful as possible.
Music: Have a sing along to some of the sea themed songs available in the Music folder.
Thank you so much for all your hard work and thank you to your amazing mummies and daddies for keeping going through these very tough and strange times. I am very sad that you will be moving on but will always be very proud that I got to teach you first!! Have a great summer, stay safe and be good!
