St Peter's Catholic Primary School

‘Unlocking love for lifelong learning for God, self and for others’

Year 2

Miss Avey, Mrs England and Mrs Whitehead support the Fantastic Fish with their learning. Our topics have been carefully selected to ensure a fun and engaging curriculum that will help the children flourish. We encourage the children to demonstrate their learning in a variety of ways which helps demonstrate their ability. Independence is also important to us so we encourage the children to do activities for themselves, having classroom jobs and setting high expectations for them to strive for.

Homework is still under discussion within the staffing team at St Peters. However, children are expected to read every day and to read to an adult on a regular basis. We also would ask that all books are bought in daily.

Spellings will be given out on a termly basis for you to practice at home. These can be practiced through a range of ways, including websites such as Spellingframe and Busythings.

We are also lucky enough to have Times Tables Rockstars which provides opportunities for your child to practice their tables through a range of selected games.

During Term 2, we will have PE lessons on a Tuesday  and Thursday.

As the weather continues to get colder, please ensure your child has  warmer clothes for PE.

Please make sure PE kits are in school at all times as PE days may change to suit the timetable.

Term 2

Every Friday, an activity relating to spellings will be sent out in your child's home learning folder. Please ensure this is sent back in the folder by the following Wednesday. The class have been set activities on Times Tables Rockstars to be completed each week.

We will sometimes set activities to be completed on Busythings.
