Year 5

Year 5 are taught by class teachers, Mr Tierney and Mrs Baker and their teaching assistant.  In Year 5 we like our children’s learning to be interesting and motivating. We feel that children learn best when they are engaged and curious. In Year 5, our topics are explored in a creative way through literature and we use fiction, non-fiction and poetry to encourage the children to learn in an independent manner.

Home learning will be linked to our Cornerstone’s topic and will be termly with a presentation at the end of the term. In addition, there will be Mathematics and Spelling homework set weekly.

At home, we expect children in Year 5 to read every day for at least 30 minutes and have the opportunity to read aloud at least once a week to an adult.

PE lessons are on a Tuesday - please ensure they have their PE kit in school at all times.

If you have any questions or concerns please come and see us.

You are always welcome into the classroom to share your child’s learning.
