Minterne 7's Annual Football Tournament - Saturday 26 March
Tue 29 Mar 2022We were in a tough group but the team played fantastically well, growing in stature and confidence with every game. A well-deserved opening 1-1 draw with Iwade B then led to deserved victories against Holywell, South Avenue and Minterne A. The team topped the group with a commanding 10 points and easily secured qualification to the semi-finals. There they played Minterne B and in a tough match with few opportunities for each side, the game finished 0-0. Extra time offered the chance to snatch a late victory, however the match ended 0-0 and penalties beckoned. In a tense shoot-out, St Peter's were very unlucky and were not able to proceed to the final. The boys and girls were a credit throughout, never giving up and always showing grit and determination, as well as great sportsmanship. Well done to them all. Thank you also to the parents who attended and cheered them on throughout.
