‘A love for God, ourselves and others’

Bethlehem (Year 1)

Welcome to Bethlehem Class

Your class teacher is Mrs Crosby, who is supported by Mrs Baker and Mrs McGahern.

In year 1, we like to ensure that our learning is interesting, active and memorable.

We like to create a comfortable working environment where children feel confident enough to share their ideas and flourish the whole year through. Every morning the children emotionally check in to ensure they're ready to learn. Your child's wellbeing and happiness is very important to us.

Throughout the year our mistakes are celebrated because that is how we learn. It is okay to make mistakes and if we do, we try again.

We like to use exciting and memorable learning experiences to help engage children because that is when we learn best.

Our school values faith, love and respect are used throughout the school but especially within the classroom.

Key Information

PE Arrangements

Your child will have PE on a Tuesday and a Thursday.  Children will need to come to school in their PE kit for the day.  This can include jogging bottoms as the weather gets cooler.  Children should still wear their St Peter's jumper if they need an extra layer on top.

Please note that earrings are not permitted for PE - they must be removed before your child comes to school if your child cannot remove their earrings on their own.

Homework

Promoting a love of reading is key at St Peter's! We ask that you share books with your children as often as you can.  We also expect that children read aloud to an adult every day.

We will be using the Go Read app to log when we read with your child at school and ask that you log when you read with your child at home too.  Please ensure that your child’s reading book is in their book bag EVERY day so that we can read with them at any given opportunity.

Homework will be set at the end of the week via SeeSaw and can either be submitted electronically or in hard copy.

If you have any questions, please email the school office and it will be forwarded to us or chat to us at the end of the day.

We look forward to working with you and your child over the coming year.
