‘A love for God, ourselves and others’

St Giovanni Farina (Year 3)

Hello Everyone,

Welcome to our year 3 class page.

Our class Saint is Giovanni Antonio Farina. He was from Italy, he was known as the bishop of the poor and he founded an all girls school for disadvantaged/poor children.

The class teacher is Miss Hammond and the lovely teaching assistants are Mrs England (HLTA)  and Mrs Davies.

We encourage the children to try their best and reach for the stars in everything they do. We very much support a happy classroom with happy children; so that the children can learn, flourish and grow throughout the year.

PE is on Wednesdays and Fridays.

Any questions or queries please pop in we will try and answer your questions, if not we can make an appointment and hopefully resolve it there.

Keep checking in!

All home work will be set using the Seesaw app and children will have their individual logins for this; please let us know if you would like support in setting this up.  Sharing a book is a special time for parents and children, please snuggle up and hear your child read their instructional book every day for a few minutes. Maybe your child could also read a book to their siblings, their grandparents, their teddies or even the dog!

Remembrance 'Lest We Forget' In English we wrote a letter to a soldier thanking them for fighting in the war and as a class we made a wreath. On November the 11th we laid it down shortly after our 2 minutes of silence.

In Science the children used starburst (and I used chocolate) to represent the rock cycle showing how over time the rock changes from igneous, sedimentary and metamorphic before it all repeats.

Maths measurement cm and m. We measured each other in metres, then worked out the height difference from the tallest to the smallest.

The children had SO much fun learning this dance.

Today in History, we travelled back in time around 2.6 million years ago to the stone age! Each sheet of toilet roll represented 30 years to show the children just how long ago this exciting period was.

To end our RE topic of the Christian family we role played a Baptism.

In music we have been practicing different beats in small groups. We will then create our own beat to link with our class book 'Where the Wild Things are' and in the next few weeks we will create our own wild rumpus. In this video we all put our practiced pieces from working in small groups together.

Covid memory walk. The children wrote down their happy memories or prayers of thanks. We then went outside and hung it on the willow tree.

In Science we have been growing our very own radishes. We grew them in sand and soil. At the start we all wrote down our predictions as to whether they would grow or not in sand. We also recapped what plants need to survive.

Our first week back at school. As a class we enjoyed a variety of different activities which gave us the opportunity to get to know each other.

Today in Science we dissected different flowers looking at their parts and names.
