St Benedict the Moor (Year 6)

Year 6

Year 6 are taught by class teacher Miss Harrington and are supported in their learning by their teaching assistant Mrs King.  We strive for our children’s learning to be interesting and motivating. In year 6, we aim to develop the child as a whole, caring for not only their educational needs but also their mental well being, social and emotional needs as well. Our focus this year will be providing them with the skills and knowledge they need to successfully complete their primary education and prepare them to make a smooth and successful transition into the next stage of their educational journey.

Key Information

Reading - Here at St Peter's we encourage a love for reading and ask that, at home, children in Year 6 read everyday and have the opportunity to read aloud at least once a week to an adult.

Spellings - We also ask the children to practice their spelling rule at home using the spellings given to them through SpellingFrame. Please encourage them to play games through this website.

Timestables - Please use Times Table rock stars at home to with practicing spelling along with verbal rehearsal of timestables

Homework - Homework will be set through Seesaw and will go live on Fridays and should be completed by the Wednesday of the following week in order for Miss Harrington to comment and approve it.

PE Kits - On PE days (Fridays), children must come to school wearing their PE kit which they will wear all day.

Spare shoes for the field - during the next two months your children will be continuing to play on the field during their breaks. To avoid bringing mud in from the field, please can you send your child in with a pair of shoes that they can wear during their breaks on the field, old trainers or wellies would be suitable for this.

We are looking forward to working with you and your child over the coming year.

If you have any questions or concerns please contact us either by contacting the school office or through the Year 6 email address.
