St Josephine Bakhita (Year 5)

Welcome to St Josephine Bakhita!

A very warm welcome to year 5 with your teachers Mrs Baker, Mrs James and Mrs Slater!

In Year 5, we like our children’s learning to be interesting and motivating.  We feel that children learn best when they are engaged and curious. In Year 5, our topics are explored in a creative way through literature and we use fiction, non-fiction and poetry to encourage the children to learn in an independent manner. We are confident that this will be a very successful year; full of accelerated learning, flourishing friendships and growth. We know you all will support your child in their learning and thank you in advance for this.

PE arrangements

PE will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  Please can your child come to school in their PE kit for these days, including trainers and jogging bottoms as the weather gets colder.

Homework

Homework will be set on either the seesaw platform or on Purple Mash on a Friday, with an expected return by Wednesday the following week. Your child will be sent home with their personal seesaw and Purple Mash logins, which they need to keep safe to refer to.  Typically this will include a maths and English task, as well as topic work, set when appropriate. Here at St Peters we encourage a love of reading, so we would ask that children read at home at least three times a week for at least thirty minutes. Do use the links below to access Spelling Frame and TT Rockstars to keep on top of spellings and times tables as well.

If you have any questions, please email the office and they will forward it on to us promptly.

We look forward to working with you and your child throughout the year - let the fun begin!
