‘A love for God, ourselves and others’

Vatican City (Year 5)

A very warm welcome to Year 5 from your teachers Mrs Crosby and Mrs Edmonds. We will be supported by Mrs Anderson and Mrs Streatfield.

In Year 5, we strive for children’s learning to be interesting and motivating.  We feel that children learn best when they are engaged and curious. In Year 5, our learning is explored in a creative way through literature and we use fiction, non-fiction and poetry to encourage the children to learn in an independent manner. We are confident that this will be a very successful year; full of accelerated learning, flourishing friendships and growth. We know you all will support your child in their learning and thank you in advance for this.

PE arrangements

PE for Term 4 will be swimming on a Monday afternoon.

Homework

Homework will be set on either the Seesaw platform or on Purple Mash on a Friday, with an expected return by Wednesday the following week. Your child will be sent home with their personal seesaw and Purple Mash logins, which they need to keep safe to refer to (these are the same logins and passwords as last year).  Typically this will include a Maths and English task, as well as topic work, set when appropriate. Here at St Peter's, we encourage a love of reading, so we would ask that children read at home at least three times a week for at least thirty minutes.

If you have any questions, please email the office and they will forward it on to us promptly.

We look forward to working with you and your child throughout the year - let the fun begin!

The Year 5 Team.
