St Oscar Romero (Year 4)

Year 4 this year is taught by Mrs Capon, along with assistants Mrs Hyams and Mrs Jennings. We are really thrilled to be back at school and have lots of exciting opportunities for learning and fun in place for the year ahead.

In English will be focusing on our key grammar skills and delving into more advanced sentence structure this year. We will also be exploring poetry and narrative written work, making links to our reading texts as we go. Improving accuracy and presentation is a key priority as children's written expectations are higher as they move through KS2 and of course issuing the children with pen licences, when they can demonstrate required handwriting skills will also be taking place.

Our maths this term will be solidifying the children's understanding of place value and the four main mathematical operations. We will of course be focusing heavily on times tables, ensuring all the children are fully prepared for the national times tables assessments in June. Please encourage your child to spend regular amounts of time practising their tables, through games, songs and other activities that they enjoy. please look at the links to several useful websites. You tube has some really catchy songs which the children love!

PE will take place on Wednesdays and Thursdays and children should come into school wearing their PE kits on these days.

Homework will usually be set on a Thursday or Friday and will consist of times tables, spellings and another activity linked into the learning for that week.

Please take a look at our photo gallery which will be updated during the course of the year.
