Year 1

Welcome to the Perfect Panda Class!

 

Mrs Keene, Mrs Baker and Mrs Streatfield will support your child to have a fun year.  We promise lots of laughter in return for your child’s best effort.  Lessons are exciting, fun and engaging with the children having lots of input into what they want to learn. 

 

At home, children are expected to read aloud to an adult every day.  We ask that adults sign and date diaries, adding a comment if you wish to.  Please ensure that your child’s reading book and diary are in their book bag EVERY day.  Please share stories with your child too.  Children will be sent home spellings to learn throughout the year.

 

PE lessons will be on Tuesday and Wednesday.  Please ensure that your child has the correct PE kit in school at all times, and that PE kits are left in school all term, as PE days may change at short notice.  Girls must not wear earrings for PE so please ensure that they are taken out before your daughter comes to school.

 

You are welcome to come and share your child’s learning at any time during the year – please arrange a time with Mrs Keene.

Homework:

 

Children are expected to read to an adult every day for at least 10 minutes as this help them to make rapid progress with their reading skills.  Please take time to talk to your child about their book and discuss the events within the story.

 

Spellings will be sent home to learn ready for a test the following week.
