A visit from Dr Green...
This term, Year 6 were very lucky to have a brilliant Science visit from one of our new EYFS parents, Dr. Green!
The children have been studying the circulatory system, understanding how their heart, lungs and blood vessels work together to keep them alive. Dr. Green, who is a doctor of cardiology, came to talk to the children and share her expertise. When Dr. Green visited, she brought in some medical items for everyone to handle and explore, such as stents and pacemakers. Year 6 were also able hear their own (and their friends) heart beats on stethoscopes and see their hearts pumping live on the ultrasounds, witnessing exactly what the heart does to pump the blood around their bodies.
Dr. Green also carried out ultrasounds of children’s hearts using her mobile phone, which was absolutely amazing! It was a brilliant visit that complimented the term's work perfectly.
