‘A love for God, ourselves and others’

Vatican City (Year 5)

A very warm welcome to year 5 from Mrs Cheeseman.

In Year 5, we like our children’s learning to be interesting and motivating.  We feel that children learn best when they are engaged and curious. In Year 5, our topics are explored in a creative way through literature and we use fiction, non-fiction and poetry to encourage the children to learn in an independent manner. We are confident that this will be a very successful year; full of accelerated learning, flourishing friendships and growth. We know you all will support your child in their learning and thank you in advance for this.

PE arrangements

PE for term six will be on both a Wednesday and a Friday. It is most likely that both sessions will be outside, so please allow your child to dress accordingly.  All jewellery including ear-rings and watches need to be removed for these sessions.

Homework

Homework will be set via our website on a Friday, with it expected to be completed Wednesday the following week.  Your child will be sent home with their Times Tables Rock Stars logins, which they need to keep safe to refer to (these are the same logins and passwords as last year).  Howmework will include a maths and English task, as well as weekly spellings. Homework is a chance for children to recount and celebrate their learning with you from the previous week and should be an enjoyable experience.  Here at St Peters, we encourage a love of reading, so we would ask that children read at home at least three times a week for at least thirty minutes.  Children will then be able to quiz and log their reading on our accelerated reading system when they arrive at school the following day.

If you have any questions, please email the office and they will forward it on to us promptly.

I look forward to working with you and your child throughout the year - let the fun begin!
